Comments from Visitors

I forgot to post some of the comments from visitors to our display from our Facebook page:

We love to visit your lights.

First Christmas here in Gleannloch Farms and I was already excited about Christmas lights; now I’m even more!

We took the whole family last night, our Thanksgiving tradition and it was great! Thanks for doing this and we’ll be back with a donation.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions! Thank you for your hard work.

Just took my son and his best friend to see this tonight. They loved it!

Thanks! The grandkids loved it!

My friends totally loved it and their 85 year old mother said it was one of the most beautiful things she has ever seen and was actually crying.

My wife and our daughter  (she is two) have visited your display the last two nights.  She keeps telling us “let’s go see the dancing lights!”  Thanks for putting on such a neat show for a great cause!  Have a very Merry Christmas!

Thank You

We partnered again this year with Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries (TEAM) as our charity effort. We (mainly my wife Jennifer Schultz ) coordinated an Adopt a Family for Christmas project to provide grocery store gift cards for Christmas dinner and gifts for each child in the family.  Through the generous donations of those who visited our display and our wonderful neighbors in Gleannloch Farms, we collected over 240 gifts and gift cards for 20 families in need.

We also appreciate Boy Scout Troop # 626 delivering the gifts for us.

A special thanks to our neighbor Marc Chouinard for taking the lead in coordinating the delivery logistics for the troop.

Thanks again for all of your contributions and donations.

2016 Song List

Our song list is a little shorter this year due to the changes we made to incorporate more pixels and a change in the software we use that made the time required to program a song longer.  We retired a few and added a new one (Bold indicates new for 2016).  Here are the songs we are using in our display this year:

  • Miracle on 34th Street Overture – Bruce Broughton
  • Sleigh Ride – Debbie Gibson
  • Celebration – Mannheim Steamroller
  • DJ Santa – Krispy
  • Jingle Bell Rock – Glee Cast
  • What A Glorious Night – Sidewalk Prophets
  • We Need a  Little Christmas – Kimberly Locke
  • Lights of Christmas – Toby Mac
  • Most Beautiful Time of the Year – Beckah Shae
  • Carol of the Bells – Foster
  • Christmastime Again – Mercy Me

Thank You

We partnered again this year with Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries as our charity effort. We (mainly my wife Jennifer Schultz ) coordinated an Adopt a Family for Christmas project to provide grocery store gift cards for Christmas dinner and gifts for each child in the family.  Through the generous donations of those who visited our display and our wonderful neighbors in Gleannloch Farms, we collected over 180 gifts and gift cards for 23 families in need.

We also appreciate Boy Scout Troop # 626 delivering the gifts for us.  They provided us this feedback:

“I want to thank you for including us in your wonderful community service project.  I can say we all truly appreciated being able to help these 23 families have a very special Christmas.  All of the families we delivered to were clearly thankful for what they received.  I am confident the troop would very much like to help support your project next year and perhaps partner to collect even more gifts so more families could be sponsored!”

A special thanks to our neighbor Marc Chouinard for taking the lead in coordinating the delivery logistics for the troop.

Thanks again for all of your contributions and donations.

Lights On Postponed

We traditionally have our “Lights On” the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Due to one major issue and the rainy weather, we will have to postpone until December 4th.  The main pole of our Megatree broke during the high winds we had the weekend before Thanksgiving,  Recovering the lights and rebuilding the Megatree set us back about 3 days.  And then the weather has been rainy for the last 2 days.  We are about 90% complete with setup and need to do some basic testing before we can turn the lights on.  It looks like better weather later this week and we should be able to get things ready to go by then.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

New for 2015

It has been a while since I posted an update, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been planning new items for 2015.  I want to add a few pixel-based elements, namely arches and trees.  I am adding 4 pixel based arches and am converting 8 of my 4 foot trees to pixels.  I have been working with pixel based controllers (SANdevice 6804) and have had some success with those and my pixel arches.  Here is a short video of them in action.  The color is not very good with the iPhone, but I think it give you a general idea of what I am planning for the arches.

Comments from Neighbors and Visitors

Our subdivision has a Facebook page for residents.  We get a lot of mentions on that page for our display and I wanted to capture some of those comments so as to not lose track of them:

If you haven’t been to see this house in previous years you are missing out!!

I drove past it tonight while taking my daughter through to see Christmas lights and its beautiful! We will definitely be back!

Fantastic, as usual! Thank you!

Visited tonight….Love the Christmas lights and music! What a joy!

It’s awesome as usual.

So lucky to be neighbors.

We brought all the granddaughters to see the lights. Evie told us to turn off the radio so she could hear the music. We tried to explain that the radio was playing the music. She is 4. It was useless to try and get her to understand. She won! We turned off our radio. She loved it.

We loved it! Love the new candy canes!!!

The best of the best!

YAY! Can’t wait to check it out!

Beautiful!

Thank you Jennifer and Douglas for this beautiful display. It’s absolutely the BEST!

Awesome!! Your Christmas lights are amazing.

Thank you for your wonderful gift to our neighborhood!!!

Looks Amazing!

Wow!

You guys are awesome!

My kids want me to drive by every night.

Our kids LOVE going to see their lights each year and think it’s really cool that you can tune into the radio station!

I go by your home several times during the season with my kids and friends.

Just visited tonight! Loved it!!

The Schultz’s house is a big, beautiful production!

This is such a nice thing you do for the holidays. I tip my hat to you both.

We drove by and saw your lights – how spectacular!

Your Christmas light show was spectacular! Scott, my Mother and I greatly appreciated it! It warmed our hearts.   Merry Christmas!

I enjoyed seeing your outdoor light display – very festive!

Thank you for posting all the videos. Your lights were incredible once again.

That is so amazing and impressive!  I do not have words to describe!

The lights will be on through New Years Eve.  Come on by if you haven’t visited us yet.

Thank You!

I posted earlier that we are partnering with Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries this year as our charity effort. We (mainly my wife Jennifer Schultz ) coordinated an Adopt a Family for Christmas project to provide grocery store gift cards for Christmas dinner and gifts for each child in the family. We committed to providing this for 10 families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to celebrate Christmas. But through the generous donations of those who visited our display and our wonderful neighbors in Gleannloch Farms, our goal was surpassed and 22 families will have a bright and happy Christmas. Thanks to you, 160 gifts were given to the children and 150 people will have a Christmas dinner. Thank you so much for all of your contributions and donations.
