2017 TEAM Donations

Neighbors and visitors to our display, you outdid yourselves this year with contributions to our Christmas on Rose Dawn gift drive for 30 very lucky Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries (TEAM) families!!! You donated 380 gifts and HEB giftcards so that these families in need will have a wonderful Christmas…thank you so much!!

And a very special thanks to Scoutmaster Scott Peterson and Boy Scout Troop 626 who partnered with us again this year to make this happen. They coordinated communicating with the families, collecting wrapping paper and boxes for us, collecting giftcards, planning logistics for deliveries, and 14 Scouts and their families picked up and delivered the gifts over two days to some very happy families! I’m so proud of these boys and what they accomplished…they were such a tremendous help. Here are some pics of them at work…

And a huge thanks to my wife Jennifer Schultz for all the efforts she puts into this. She spends countless hours making tags for the tree, sorting and wrapping presents, keeping the lists organized and so many other duties. This is her idea and she takes on more families every year.

Scott Peterson, Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 626 said this – “On behalf of Troop 626, I want to say a huge thanks to Jennifer and Doug for their amazing energy, hard work and dedication to making Christmas on Rose Dawn such a great success for our community again this year. It was truly a privilege for our scouts and their families to be able to deliver these gifts. Thanks to all those who adopted the families and donated the gifts, your generosity makes such an impact on these families in need. I spoke to every adopted family several times over the past few weeks and on behalf of them I pass on their heartfelt thanks to you all! Merry Christmas!”

Thank you again GLF neighbors and Merry Christmas!!!!

We love to visit your lights.

First Christmas here in Gleannloch Farms and I was already excited about Christmas lights; now I’m even more!

We took the whole family last night, our Thanksgiving tradition and it was great! Thanks for doing this and we’ll be back with a donation.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions! Thank you for your hard work.

Thanks Doug and Jennifer! Your display is fabulous and we look forward to it every year!

Just took my son and his best friend to see this tonight. They loved it!

Thanks! The grandkids loved it!

My friends totally loved it and their 85 year old mother said it was one of the most beautiful things she has ever seen and was actually crying.

My wife and our daughter  (she is two) have visited your display the last two nights.  She keeps telling us “let’s go see the dancing lights!”  Thanks for putting on such a neat show for a great cause!  Have a very Merry Christmas!

Thank You

We partnered again this year with Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries (TEAM) as our charity effort. We (mainly my wife Jennifer Schultz ) coordinated an Adopt a Family for Christmas project to provide grocery store gift cards for Christmas dinner and gifts for each child in the family.  Through the generous donations of those who visited our display and our wonderful neighbors in Gleannloch Farms, we collected over 240 gifts and gift cards for 20 families in need.

We also appreciate Boy Scout Troop # 626 delivering the gifts for us.

A special thanks to our neighbor Marc Chouinard for taking the lead in coordinating the delivery logistics for the troop.

Thanks again for all of your contributions and donations.

We partnered again this year with Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries as our charity effort. We (mainly my wife Jennifer Schultz ) coordinated an Adopt a Family for Christmas project to provide grocery store gift cards for Christmas dinner and gifts for each child in the family.  Through the generous donations of those who visited our display and our wonderful neighbors in Gleannloch Farms, we collected over 180 gifts and gift cards for 23 families in need.

We also appreciate Boy Scout Troop # 626 delivering the gifts for us.  They provided us this feedback:

“I want to thank you for including us in your wonderful community service project.  I can say we all truly appreciated being able to help these 23 families have a very special Christmas.  All of the families we delivered to were clearly thankful for what they received.  I am confident the troop would very much like to help support your project next year and perhaps partner to collect even more gifts so more families could be sponsored!”

A special thanks to our neighbor Marc Chouinard for taking the lead in coordinating the delivery logistics for the troop.

Thanks again for all of your contributions and donations.

Lights On Postponed

We traditionally have our “Lights On” the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Due to one major issue and the rainy weather, we will have to postpone until December 4th.  The main pole of our Megatree broke during the high winds we had the weekend before Thanksgiving,  Recovering the lights and rebuilding the Megatree set us back about 3 days.  And then the weather has been rainy for the last 2 days.  We are about 90% complete with setup and need to do some basic testing before we can turn the lights on.  It looks like better weather later this week and we should be able to get things ready to go by then.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

New for 2015

It has been a while since I posted an update, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been planning new items for 2015.  I want to add a few pixel-based elements, namely arches and trees.  I am adding 4 pixel based arches and am converting 8 of my 4 foot trees to pixels.  I have been working with pixel based controllers (SANdevice 6804) and have had some success with those and my pixel arches.  Here is a short video of them in action.  The color is not very good with the iPhone, but I think it give you a general idea of what I am planning for the arches.
